The "Bat Tree of Life": Selected pieces of the scientific litterature
For a position of the Order Chiroptera in the Mammal Tree of Life, check this blogpost.
For a good overview of the Order Chiroptera: Teeling et al. 2005.
According to the new findings using DNA and molecular biology,
the two suborders Microchiroptera and Megachiroptera
would have been rearranged in a suborder Yangochiroptera (or Vespertilioniformes)
and a suborder Yinpterochiroptera (or Pteropodiformes).
For some detailed family phylogenies:
- Hiposideridae: Murray et al. 2012.
- Rhinolophidae: Stoffberg et al. 2010.
- Natalidae: Tejenborg, 2011.
- Phyllostomidae: Dumont et al. 2011.
- Emballonuridae: Ruedi et al. 2012 [Abstract].
- Vespertilionidae: Hoofer & Van Den Bussche, 2003 [Abstract].
and the proposed new family Cistugidae. Lack et al. 2010 [Abstract].
